Everything you need to know about preparing for a massage treatment
If you have never had a massage treatment before, then you might be wondering if there is anything you should do before attending your appointment. The good news is that there are no secretsor rigorous list of requirements in order to have a massage. There are, however, a few things you can do which might be useful.
Before you attend your treatment at one of the many Tameside massage venues, your chosen therapist will inform you if there are any specific preparations you should make.
Avoid Alcohol
This might seem a little strange, but massage treatments work to release toxins hidden within the body, so it is a good idea to avoid alcohol before your massage treatment. Drinking before a massage can leave you feeling dehydrated and unwell.
Drink Plenty of Water
While alcohol should be avoided, it is a good idea to drink plenty of water both before and after your massage treatment. This will help to flush toxins out of your body.
Avoid Getting Sunburnt
We all know that sunburn is painful, but imagine having a massage while you have sunburn. It is advisable to avoid massage treatments while your skin is recovering in order to reduce discomfort and avoid any effects that lotions or oils may have on sensitive skin.
Have a Shower
Your therapist is going to be getting up-close and personal with your skin. They may be getting paid to give you a massage, but that doesn’t mean that it is right for them to have to deal with smelly, sweaty bodies. Although this can’t always be avoided, such as in the heat of the summer, taking the time to make sure that you have a shower will help both of you to have a pleasant experience.
